Glen Allen approves Rebuild Alabama Plan



During its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 7, the Glen Allen Town Council voted to pass Resolution 2 - 21, adopting the town’s annual transportation plan. The transportation plan is a requirement of the Rebuild Alabama Act (House Bill 2019 - 2), which was passed by the Alabama Legislature. The bill requires each municipality to show accountability for the expected revenue levied from excise tax received from the state on gasoline and diesel fuel in 2022.

 

Glen Allen Council discusses new air conditioning units

The Glen Allen Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at the town’s community center. Councilman Robert Aldridge and Councilwoman Willie Rose McClinton were absent from the monthly meeting. Following standard meeting procedures, Mayor Allen J. Dunavant addressed an item of old business. He informed the council that the air conditioning units had been installed in the Town Hall and the Post Office.

Wisemiller addresses Glen Allen Council



The Glen Allen Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, July 6 at the town’s community center. Councilman Dustin Youngblood was not in attendance for the monthly scheduled meeting. Mayor Allen J. Dunavant welcomed Tom Wisemiller, Chief Executive Officer and President of the Northwest Alabama Economic Development Alliance (also known as C3), to address the council. Wisemiller informed the council that he was proud to be onboard and leading the effort of economic development for the the C3 Alliance across the three-county region.

Glen Allen to address paving concerns



The Glen Allen Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, June 1 at the town’s community center. Council members Robert Aldridge and Willie Rose McClinton were not in attendance for the regularly scheduled monthly meeting. Mayor Allen J. Dunavant addressed the council with his concerns about the conditions of the town’s streets, stating that several of the streets were in very deteriorated conditions.

Fayette, Glen Allen to hold clean-up

The City of Fayette and the Town of Glen Allen will hold municipal clean-up this Saturday, April 24. The clean-ups are part of Alabama’s month-long PALS (People Against a Littered State) project. The Town of Glen Allen’s clean-up will begin with a safety briefing at the Town Hall at 8:30 a.m. Teams will then travel through the town of Glen Allen to pick-up trash.
The Fayette clean-up will begin at 9 a.m at Fayette City Hall. Police Chief Danny Jenkins will give a short presentation to the workers concerning safety before the clean-up activities begin.

 

Glen Allen Council rejects paving bid



The Glen Allen Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday. April 6 at the town’s community center. Councilman Dustin Youngblood was not in attendance, with all other council members present. The council chose to reject the only bid received for the proposed street paving project, which would have addressed repaving Birch, Hickory and Twin Streets, Allen Avenue, 11th and 12th Streets East and 10th Street West. Glen Allen to participate in a community clean-up



The Glen Allen Town Council met on Tuesday, March 2 at the town’s community center with all council members in attendance for the regularly scheduled monthly meeting. Mayor Allen J. Dunavant notified the council that he had received correspondence from Alabama PALS (People Against a Littered State) inquiring whether the town would be participating in the 2021 “Don’t Drop it on Alabama” statewide annual spring cleanup.

 

Glen Allen makes contribution to school, VFD

The Glen Allen Town Council met on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at the town’s community center. Councilors Bobbie S. McCraw and Dustin Youngblood were not in attendance for the regularly scheduled monthly meeting. The council unanimously elected to make an in-kind donation to the Fayette County Board of Education to assist organizations at Hubbertville School. Mayor Allen J. Dunavant brought before the council a proposal to continue the annual donation, which has been the practice of the council since 2005.
