Inter-City Ministries and Mayfield Church of Christ in partnership with Fayette County Head Start is providing a time of fun and games for local youths on Mondays - Fridays, 8 - 11:30 a.m., beginning June 4 - Aug. 3. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for participants. The event will be held at the Fayette County Head Start Center, located in the former West Highland School building at 631 1st St. SW in Fayette. Transportation will be provided if reasonable. Anyone 18 years old and under is welcome to attend.

The Hubbertville Lion Pride Band Foundation will be hosting a Swamp John's Dinner on Wednesday, June 6 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Hubbertville School pavilion. Plates are $11 each and consist of your choice of fish, shrimp or chicken served with fries, coleslaw, hushpuppies, sliced onion, pickles and tea. Walk-ins are welcome. Dine-in or carryout. The Fayette County Extension Office will offer a program regarding interpreting estimated progeny difference (EPDs) for beef cattle. The program will be held at the Fayette County Extension Office on Tuesday, June 12, from 6 - 8 p.m. Dr. Lisa Kriese-Anderson will be the featured speaker. Dr. Kriese-Anderson is an Animal Science Extension Specialist and Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Science at Auburn University. She will explain how to properly interpret EPDs. She will also discuss beef cattle selection based on EPDs and the use of genomically enhanced EPDs.
The next quarterly meeting of the 877th Engineer Battalion Retired Employees will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 25 at Cedar Landing Restaurant in Winfield. All former full-time unit support employees (Unit, OMS, R&R, etc.) are invited to attend. Lunch is Dutch treat. Come and enjoy the fellowship!
