The 2026 Town of Glen Allen spring clean up will be Saturday, April 18 at 8:30 a.m. at town hall. Materials and supplies are furnished by Alabama People Against a Littered State (PALS). Bring gloves and help clean up the community of roadside litter. There will be a cookout luncheon sponsored by community volunteers at noon at the town community center. Sign up in advance as a volunteer no later than Friday, April 3 at the town hall, Hubbertville School or Beth’s Trim and Tan in order to get a free participant t-shirt.

The deadline to order March for Jesus will be Sunday, April 12. Youth small through adult extra-large are $8 each. 2XL through 4XL are $10 each. They will be burgundy and white. To order, or for more information, call (205) 932-6569. March for Jesus (Jesus Day) will be held Saturday, May 16.

SHADY GROVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 5173 Co. Rd. 100, Fayette, will have a spring revival Wednesday, April 1 through Friday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. nightly. Wednesday’s guest preacher will be Rev. David Smith, New Hope M.B. Church in Millport and Temple Star M.B. Church in Crossville. Thursday’s guest preacher will be Rev. Christian Fluker, New Grace Baptist Church in Fayette. Friday’s guest preacher will be Rev. Christopher Riley, New Zion Pilgrim M.B. Church in Columbus, Miss.

Kirkland Bluff Wayside Volunteer Fire Dept. will have a Rowdy Hoggs BBQ plate fundraiser on Saturday, April 4 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Wayside Fire Station. Plates will be $12 each and will include BBQ or chicken fingers, beans, slaw, dessert and drink. All proceeds to benefit Volunteer Firefighter Elton Granger.

Newtonville Community Center, 490 Center Rd., Fayette,  will have a plate sale on Sunday, March 29 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Community Center. The menu will consist of green beans, yellow rice, baked chicken, fried chicken, garden salad, roll, pound cake, drink, water. Plates are $10 each, and proceeds will benefit the Newtonville Community Center.

DAVIS CREEK AND HOLLY SPRINGS DISTRICT Fifth Sunday Fellowship, Rev. Jerry Bridges, Moderator, and hosted by Mt. Joy Missionary Baptist Church will be Sunday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m. Milborn Savage and the Masterpieces will sing. Mt. Joy pastor is Rev. Kelcey Hale.

St. Michael’s Episcopal Church will pass out beans and rice and canned goods on Saturday, March 28 at 9 a.m. A hot breakfast is also served at this time. No documentation or income verifications are required. 

Restoration Springs will hold a sunrise service on Sunday, April 5 at 6 a.m.

The Fayette Co. High School class of 1981 will have their 45th class reunion on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6. If you have not already registered, please do so. There is a fee of $35 per person or $50 per couple. The fee includes dinner on Friday evening at Fayette Civic Center and lunch on Saturday at Fayette Middle School.

AARP Tax Aide is offering free tax preparation. AARP membership is not required. For more information, or to make an appointment, call Barrie Lowe at (205) 270-0368. Appointments will be available Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. beginning on February 6 and lasting through the tax season.
