The Fayette Tigers traveled to Cordova to face off against the Blue Devils. Fayette won the coin toss and deferred. Cordova received the first kickoff but was forced to punt.

The Wildcats kicked off their 2024 campaign by hosting the Pickens Academy Pirates in the first ever meeting between the two schools as the Pirates moved to the AHSAA from AISA. Before the kickoff, both teams and the assembled fans paused for a moment of silence for Caden Tellier, the Morgan Academy quarterback who passed away after sustaining injuries in his team’s game last week.

On Thursday, Aug. 22, the Fayette Tigers faced off against the Gordo Greenwave at Libby Hankins Field.
The Hubbertville Lion’s football team along with five other teams participated in a fall jamboree at Malcolm Blake Stadium at Winston County High School on Friday, August 16. Other team’s participating in the jamboree were the South Lamar Stallion’s (Class 1A), Falkville Blue Devil’s (Class 2A), Sulligent Blue Devil’s (Class 2A), Curry Yellow Jacket’s (Class 4A) and the home team; Winston County Yellow Jackets (Class 2A).
On Friday, Aug. 16, the Fayette Tigers hosted a preseason jamboree, with each session lasting two quarters of play. The Tigers faced off in game one against the Sylvania Rams (Class 3A), with both starters and reserves taking turns each session.
The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) recognized 107 high schools that were ejection and sportsmanship fine free for the 2023-24 school year. The $1,000 Sportsmanship grant, which was provided by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association (AHSADCA), was awarded to 10 of the schools, one from each district and two from districts 4 and 8, in a show of commitment and support for the AHSAA’s sportsmanship initiatives.
The 2024 Class of inductees into the Fayette County Sports Hall of Fame have been named. The Induction Ceremony will be held Saturday, July 27, at the Earl McDonald Building of Bevill State Community College Fayette Campus at 6:30 p.m. The complete list of inductees and a brief biography will be published in The Times-Record.
The Berry High School Football team went to two football camps at Auburn University. They competed at a seven on seven camp on Friday, June 7. The Wildcats went 3-3 at the camp. Players that participated in the seven on seven camp were Kemari Hollingsworth, Lake Norris, Max Westbrook, Jayden Smith, Ace Norris, Seth Traweek, Luke Ward, Ashton Waltrip, Drayke Parr, Dalton Greene, Dale Gray, Cody Lollar, and Jake Martin. The Wildcats then attended a linemen camp on Sunday, June 9.
Fayette County High School has started a new era for its basketball program with the recent hiring of Jake Mitchell, a seasoned coach with a decade of experience and a personal connection to the sport.

The 2024 Central Softball Regional was held in Montgomery on Tuesday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 8.
The FCHS Men’s Golf Team are undefeated this year in the regular season with wins at the West Alabama Conference on Wednesday, March 23, and Invitational on Tuesday, April 23. Both held at the Fayette Country Club. The Tigers were runner up at Sectionals and boasting a low round of 76, Clark Vandiver led the whole field.
The Fayette Tigers Baseball team won against the Piedmont Bulldogs in second round of playoffs. The Tigers won the series 2-0 on Thursday, April 25. They will move on the to the third round of the state playoffs on Wednesday, May 1.
The Lady Wildcats beat Brillant 4-3 on Monday, April 15. Berry erased a 3-1 deficit in the bottom of the 7th inning to force extra innings as Ashlyn Smith scored the go ahead on the RBI single by Shayla Mayfield to celebrate Senior Night and the 300th career win for Berry Softball Coach Darrell Thomas.
