Hubbertville softball has good NAC Tournament



The Hubbertville Lady Lions started off the week suffering a 10-1 loss to Marion County. Emma Nichols was the starting and losing pitcher for Hubbertville. Dixie Moye had two singles in the game, which were Hubbertville’s only two hits. Madison Cribb scored the only run for Hubbertville. Hubbertville beat Meek on Thursday by the score of 12-11. Emma Nichols pitched the eighth inning in relief for Hubbertville to record the win.

Fayette softball has tough week



The Fayette Lady Tigers suffered through a tough week of softball, losing all six games, including two in extra innings. Haleyville started off the week defeating Fayette 8-1. Lauren Seale suffered the loss on the mound for Fayette. Callie Williams had two hits for the Lady Tigers. Sipsey Valley defeated Fayette 16-5. Seale was the losing pitcher.

Berry softball defeats Holy Spirit



Berry’s softball team played only one game last week, recording a big victory over one of the best Class 1A teams in the state. On April 8, Berry defeated Holy Spirit by a score of 4-1. The game also marked a milestone for Berry’s Head Coach Darrell Thomas. The victory was his 250th win in 12 full seasons as a head softball coach. Kyla Edmonson started the game on the mound for the Lady Wildcats and pitched the complete seven inning game. She allowed only one run on three hits while striking out 15 batters.

Hub wins one, loses one in softball

Hubbertville played two games in softball last week, winning the first game before losing the second. On April 6, the Lady Lions traveled to Brilliant and defeated the Lady Tigers 13-1. Emma Nichols captured the complete game victory from the mound, allowing only one hit and one unearned run in five innings while striking out five.

Fayette softball defeats Vina twice



The Fayette Lady Tigers suffered a loss to Marion County on April 5 by a score of 6-1. The game was tied at one until the top of the fifth inning when the Lady Red Raiders took the lead. Lauren Seale suffered the loss for Fayette on the mound. Harley Johnson and Searley Nichols each had two hits for Fayette.

Berry softball defeats Hubbertville 11-1



On April 1, Berry defeated Hubbertville 11-1. Kyla Edmonson pitched the complete six inning game for Berry to earn the win. She allowed only one hit and one run while striking out 10 batters. Edmonson and Gracyn Hydrick each hit home runs for Berry. Ashlyn Smith led the Lady Wildcats in hits with four. Brooke Hill, Allie Taylor, Edmonson, Lynsie Abernathy and Anna Kate VanDee each collected two hits during the game for Berry.

 

Lady Wildcats win two games in Hubbertville tourney

The Berry Lady Wildcats won two-of-three games played on Saturday, March 20 during the Hubbertville Round-Robin Softball Tournament. Marion County defeated Berry by the score of 4-2. Kyla Edmonson pitched the complete four-inning game for the Lady Wildcats and suffered the loss. She allowed two earned runs on only two hits and struck out six batters. Anna Kate VanDee had Berry’s only hit in the game, which was a double. She also batted in both of the Lady Wildcats runs. Edmonson scored both of Berry’s runs during the game.

Hubbertville softball has mixed results

The Hubbertville Lady Lions softball team played five games last week, with mixed results in the outcomes. Hubbertville started the week with an 11-1 victory over Brilliant. Emma Nichols pitched a complete five inning game and allowed only two hits and no earned runs while striking out 10 batters. Laikyn Wright had three hits in four at-bats, including a double, with two RBIs and two runs scored. Krissa Comer was also three-for-four at the plate, with four RBIs and two runs scored.
