The Fayette Lady Tigers softball team defeated Brilliant last Monday by the score of 5-4. Preslee Kelly pitched a complete seven-inning game for Fayette, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs to pick up the victory. Kelly also led the team offensively with three hits at the plate. Aubrey Deavours had two hits for the Lady Tigers, including a triple. Ensleigh Kennedy had a double, while Lauren Unger, Rayah Nichols and Kinley Owens each had a hit for Fayette.
The Fayette Lady Tigers softball team played a lead-in game against South Lamar om Thursday, leading up to its annual “Tiger Slam” tournament on Saturday. Fayette got in the hole early before fighting back and losing a 9-8 heartbreaker to the Lady Stallions. Ensleigh Kennedy was the starting pitcher for Fayette and only pitched one inning, allowing three hits and three runs to suffer the loss. Preslee Kelly pitched six innings in relief for Fayette, allowing six runs but only one earned run.
The Lady Wildcats started its area season off in strong fashion, with two area wins over University Charter School. On Monday, Feb. 26, University Charter visited Berry and the Lady Wildcats were victorious by the score of 14-9.
Berry started its 2024 varsity softball season off with an 18-8 loss to the Fayette Lady Tigers.
Maggie Mauldin was the losing pitcher for the Lady Wildcats, allowing 10 hits, but only two earned runs in 5 2/3 innings of work.
The Berry High School Lady Wildcats got next year’s season off to a good start, as they participated in the “Battle on the Diamond” softball tournament in Aliceville on June 16 and brought home the first place trophy.
Kerra Aaron, who just completed the eighth grade at Berry High School, was recently named as honorable mention catcher on the 2023 Alabama Sportswriters Association’s All-State Softball Team for Class 1A schools.
The Berry Lady Wildcats traveled to Lagoon Park in Montgomery last week to participate in the Central Regional Softball Playoffs. The Lady Wildcats, representing Class 1A, Area 8 as the runnerup in the area tournament, faced Keith in the first round of the regional and was defeated by the score of 13-9.
Berry, Hubbertville and Fayette each played in their respective area softball tournaments last week, Berry advanced to the first round of the playoffs, while Hubbertville and Fayette each concluded their seasons. Berry traveled to South Lamar for the Class 1A, Area 8 tournament, beginning on Tuesday, May 2. The Lady Wildcats won its first round game against University Charter by the score of 6-3.
One week after finishing second in the NAC Softball Tournament and the week before playing in the area tournament, Hubbertville overwhelmed Aliceville in two straight games. At Hubbertville on April 24, the Lady Lions defeated Aliceville 15-0.
