"She always leaned to watch for us, Anxious if we were late, In winter by the window, In summer by the gate"
The opening of this poem, "The Watcher" depicts the emotions of our Mother toward all of her children, anxious if we were 10 minutes late. It is also a beautiful depiction of our Mother's love and attentiveness toward each of her children. It never ceased as long as she lived.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (and about to be a great-great-grandmother on December 21). She was an excellent cook, talented seamstress, trusted confidant, avid reader, and she championed every charity of every animal created.
She grew up in Fayette, living in the Cotton Mill Village at one point, and also living in the country playing with her cousins and fishing in the Emmet Watkins lake.
She cherished her marriage and her home in Kennedy raising her children.
Honorary pallbearers were: Morningview Estates Staff and residents, and Alabama Hospice.
Active pallbearers were: Joshua Harper, Sloan Harper, Kyle Newman, Miles Crowley, Ian Harper, John Asher Newman, and Caje Creel.
Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette directed.
