Kyle South, the Republican State House of Representative member for District 16, has announced that he will be surrendering his seat in the state legislature to take the job as the President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama.
Senator Greg Reed (R-Jasper) announced last week that legislation he sponsored with Rep. Kyle South (R-Fayette) to extend the coal severance tax, which will generate millions of dollars for his district, was signed into law by the governor. Greg Reed, along with Representative South, Winston County Commission Chairman Roger Hayes, Fayette County Probate Judge Mike Freeman and Walker County Industrial Development Authority Chairman Bob Reed released the following statements on this important community support.
The 2019 regular legislative session that adjourned earlier this month accomplished many tasks that I believe will improve the lives of the citizens throughout House District 16.
