The Berry Wildcats traveled to Brilliant to face the Tigers in their fourth road game of the year. The Wildcats came away with a victory that closed out region play and solidified Berry as the two-seed in the upcoming playoffs.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) recognized 107 high schools that were ejection and sportsmanship fine free for the 2023-24 school year.The $1,000 Sportsmanship grant, which was provided by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association (AHSADCA), was awarded to 10 of the schools, one from each district and two from districts 4 and 8, in a show of commitment and support for the AHSAA’s sportsmanship initiatives.

The Berry High School Football team went to two football camps at Auburn University. They competed at a seven on seven camp on Friday, June 7. The Wildcats went 3-3 at the camp. Players that participated in the seven on seven camp were Kemari Hollingsworth, Lake Norris, Max Westbrook, Jayden Smith, Ace Norris, Seth Traweek, Luke Ward, Ashton Waltrip, Drayke Parr, Dalton Greene, Dale Gray, Cody Lollar, and Jake Martin. The Wildcats then attended a linemen camp on Sunday, June 9.

The Berry High School Lady Wildcats got next year’s season off to a good start, as they participated in the “Battle on the Diamond” softball tournament in Aliceville on June 16 and brought home the first place trophy.
Dr. Kim Williams was selected as the new principal at Berry High School.
The Fayette County Board of Education voted unanimously during its June 22 meeting to name Dr. Kim Williams as the new principal of Berry High School. All board members were in attendance for the meeting. Dr. Williams is a 1989 graduate of Berry High School, where she was valedictorian of her senior class.

Following Caleb Hynds’ departure to Berry’s rival school in the northern part of the county. former U.S. Marine Lieutenant Hunter Mims has been thrust into the heat of gridiron battle as the new head football coach at Berry High School. Less than a year ago, Mims was serving out his tour of duty with the Marine Corps. That duty included a stint in the Pacific Theater and also time spent in the Middle East. He returned home to the United States and following his discharge from the service, accepted a teaching position at Berry High School in January.

Berry High School celebrated its homecoming on Friday, Oct. 16 with a parade and a huge 36-13 region win over the Brilliant Tigers.

The Berry High School Alumni Association held its 19th annual reunion on Aug. 17. Attendees ranged from the Class of 1943 to the Class of 2019. VictorBonner opened the meeting in prayer. Tracy Fields directed those assembled in singing the Alma Mater with Linda Clark playing the piano.
