FCHS Volleyball wins WAC Tournament

The Fayette County High School girls’ varsity volleyball team were the winners of the WAC Tournament that was held at South Lamar High School Sept. 20. They defeated Winfield 2-1, Sulligent 2-0 and played Sulligent for the championship, winning 2-1.

The Fayette Tigers traveled to Jones Field on Friday night, defeating the Haleyville Lions in a 61-21 victory.

Fayette County High School announces week long homecoming festivities

Fayette County High School will celebrate its 2025 homecoming during the week of Sept. 29 through Oct. 3, with the theme “GAME ON, Blue Devils!” The homecoming festivities kick off Friday, Sept. 26, with “A Night in the Bayou,” a dance for students in grades 9–12. The event will be held at Bungalows from 8 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased by Thursday, Sept. 25.

Throughout the week, students can participate in themed dress-up days:

• Monday: “Monopoly Monday” — Dress like a millionaire or favorite celebrity.

Nalls doing well after surgery

Fayette County High School junior football player Zamarion Nalls is recovering after suffering a serious injury during the game against Dora on Friday, Sept. 12.
