SARAH CHAMPION KIZZIRE

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Champion Kizzire, age 100 of Fayette, were held Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 2 p.m. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Fayette Memorial Gardens. Bro. Robert Parrish and Mark Brown officiated. She died Wednesday, April 23, at Fayette Long Term Care.
 Mrs. Kizzire was born and raised in Fayette. She lived at home until the age of 92, where she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, tending to her flowers and visiting her neighbors. She then spent five years at Morningview assisted living with her final three years at Fayette Long Term Care. She was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church. She was a loving Christian person devoted to reading her bible and praying for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Girthie Champion; husband, Alexander Kizzire; three brothers, Buren Champion, Joe Champion and Lincoln Champion; and three sisters, Cora Mae Bobo, Bertha Lee Yerby and Jennetta Burkhalter.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Kizzire (Gail) of Fayette; daughter, Linda McCraw (Bob) of Fayette; sister, Barbara Watson of Fayette; five grandchildren, Jennifer Richardson (Mike), Heather Whitehead (Lance), Jerrod Kizzire (Shea), Brandy Godwin (Adam) and Cassie Beck (Darryll); ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Honorary pallbearers were Sam and Shirley Lowery, Dr. Martha Jo Christian, Fayette Medical Center Long Term Care employees, Shauna Watkins, Alabama Hospice, Stephanie McGough and Tammy Walker.
Active pallbearers were Jerrod Kizzire, Joey Kizzire, Alex Whitehead, Mark Brown, Stephen Fulmer and Roy Lockhart.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest an honorary donation to Southside Baptist Church.
