DR. JOE DAVID ACKER

Dr. Joe David Acker, age 86 of Fayette, died Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Aspire Physical Recovery Center in Hoover.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Fayette First Methodist Church. A reception will follow in the church’s Fellowship Hall. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Linda Acker; son, Jeff Acker; parents, Preston and Vernie Falkner Acker; brother, Dan Acker; and sister, Jane Harrell.
Survivors include his daughter, Susanne Schachter (Armand); sons, Monty Acker and Jim Shepherd; sister-in-law, Judy Acker; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Preston Settle, Jesse Seaborn, Shane Harkness, Chris Acker, David Acker, Kyler Clark, Ray Harrell and Bill McCollum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Fred Webster Perpetual Endowment Fund at Fayette First Methodist Church.
