Fayette Medical Center to remain open as DCH announces end of operating agreement

Fayette Medical Center will remain open as local leaders and DCH Health System begin planning for the future of health care in Fayette County following the announcement that the hospital’s long-standing operating agreement will not be renewed in its current form. The Fayette County Hospital Board and the board of the DCH Health Care Authority announced Friday, Sept. 25, that the current lease agreement, which expires Sept. 30, 2027, cannot continue under its existing terms. DCH has been associated with Fayette Medical Center since 1984, with the current 20-year lease taking effect in October 2007. Both organizations emphasized that the hospital will remain open and continue normal operations through the end of the lease. DCH also stated that no staffing or personnel changes are planned.
