Wildcats come up short against Hale County

The Berry Wildcats kicked off their 2026 campaign by hosting the Class 3A Hale County Wildcats. After graduating a large senior class last year, Berry had a lot of new faces playing in key positions on both sides of the ball. The young Berry Wildcats played Hale County close for most of the game, but a couple of late touchdowns handed them a 42-22 loss. Berry won the toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff. Berry returned the kickoff to its own 30-yard line to begin play and put together a 13-play drive that took up more than half of the first quarter.
