Jami DeLoe Olive has recently been hired as the News Editor of The Times-Record.

Devin Dudley, a Fayette County native and 2012 graduate of Fayette County High School, has been named the new editor of The Times-Record, replacing retiring editor Dean Maddox. In addition to being a graduate of Fayette County High School, Dudley has an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Bevill State Community College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Alabama in Communication and Information Sciences.

There are many special occasions in life worth celebrating: births, engagements, weddings, and milestone birthday and anniversaries. Years ago, before social media outlets became commonplace, people celebrated these special events by submitting them to the local newspaper for publication. Now they are seldom submitted. The Times-Record is the community newspaper for Fayette County. We want to help share your momentous events with our readers. Many of our readers are your friends, neighbors and family members, and lots of our readers do not use social media.

Beginning on Thursday, March 18, The Times-Record will be using new e-mail addresses for all electronic mail correspondences. A recent change in our internet carrier and service has forced us to change email addresses. After Wednesday, March 17, we will no longer be able to access our current Centurytel e-mail addresses. Our new e-mail address provider will be Outlook.
To accommodate our readers and contributors, we have tried to make our e-mail addresses as similar to our previous addresses as possible.

The Fayette Lions Club welcomed The Times Record’s News  Editor, Dean Maddox, as its featured speaker for the club’s June 24 meeting. During the presentation, Maddox explained his duties as reporter, photographer and editor for the newspaper. He discussed the process for covering meetings and events, and Maddox also outlined the steps necessary for getting the newspaper ready to publish.

Horace Moore, owner and publisher of The Times-Record of Fayette and Mid-South Newspapers based in Haleyville, has been elected president of the Alabama Press Association. Moore succeeds Kenneth Boone, who is the new chairman of the board. Moore, a native of Winston County, began his newspaper career in 1964. He worked his way up through the newspaper he now owns, doing most every job in the building. In addition to The Times-Record, Moore’s company also publishes The Northwest Alabamian in Haleyville, The Journal Record in Hamilton, and The Pickens County Herald in Reform.

Horace Moore, publisher of The Times-Record, is proud to announce the promotion of Dean Maddox to the position of news editor. Maddox will replace Michael Palmer, who has returned to The Times-Record’s sister paper, The Journal Record, in Hamilton. “Michael did a good job for us, and I wish him well,” Moore said. “Dean has been around for a long time, and he will do a good job as your news editor. He has worked for us for many years and will provide the news that our readers have come to expect."
