Dennis Renfroe

Funeral services for Bro. Denny Renfroe, age 71 of Berry,  were held Friday, July 31, 2026 from Samantha Holiness Church with Bro. Jason Collins and Bro. Charlie Napier officiating. Burial followed in Boone Cemetery. He died Friday, July 24, in Tuscaloosa.
On June 30, 1955, Bro. Denny Renfroe was born in Kentucky to John and Lorene Renfroe as number five of nine children. The family later moved to Alabama. It was there that he met his sweetheart, the love of his life, and the woman who would become his devoted wife of 51 years, Kathy Lollar Renfroe. He attended Gorgas School through the sixth grade and later graduated from Northside High School in 1973.
As the son of a Holiness preacher, Denny was raised hearing the Gospel from an early age. He was born again at the age of 17 and from that moment forward, dedicated his life to serving the Lord. Denny and Kathy were married in December 1973 and began building a Christian home together. He received the baptism of the Holy Ghost in 1975 one month before their first child was born. The Lord blessed them with two children, Angel and David. Bro. Denny worked and retired from Arvin Automotive.
It wasn’t until the early 90’s that Bro. Denny surrendered to the call of God to preach the Gospel. He became the pastor of Samantha Holiness Church shortly after and faithfully served that congregation for over 30 years until the Lord called him home. Though he faithfully shepherded the people of Samantha, his love for God’s people reached far beyond the walls of his own church. He traveled many miles preaching the Gospel across the country.
Bro. Denny not only preached Jesus from the pulpit, but his daily life was a living testimony of the Love of God. Though he was a meek and humble man of few words, the touch of God upon his life caused his messages to reach the hearts of countless souls. Even til his last day, he was reaching for just one more.
On July 24, 2026 God called His servant and good soldier home. With his loving family by his side, Bro. Denny departed this life and made his heavenly entrance to ever be with his Lord and Savior. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."”
Bro. Denny was a loving husband, daddy, grandpa, brother, uncle, pastor, and friend. His life leaves behind a testimony of faith, humility, and steadfast devotion to God. Truly, God did smile on the life of Bro. Denny. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Yet, because of God’s amazing grace, those who know Christ have the blessed hope of seeing him again someday.
Bro. Denny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lorene Renfroe; and brother, Mike Renfroe.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Kathy Lollar Renfroe; two children, Angel and David Renfroe; one grandson, William Renfroe; brothers, Tim (Sue), Sonny, Kenny (Jan) and Jimmy (Shirley); sisters, Mona (Ralph), Pam (Ronnie) and Carolyn (Brian); sister-in-law, Ann Renfroe; one daughter in love, Victoria Sparks; three grandchildren in love, Caleb, Nathan, and Ethan; and like a Daddy to many others, more than we could name.
