Berry council adopts FY2027 budget, recognizes Man and Woman of the Year

The Berry Town Council adopted its budget for the upcoming fiscal year during its Sept. 14 meeting, which also included recognition of the town’s 2026 Man and Woman of the Year and the unveiling of a new web-based app for residents. Before the council began its regular business, members of the Berry Industrial Board recognized Calvin Madison as Berry’s 2026 Man of the Year. Madison was selected by an overwhelming vote in recognition of approximately 30 years of service to the community. His son, Wes Madison, spoke about Madison’s years of involvement with the town, including his work with the industrial board and industrial park, helping with projects at the park, picking up trash and even assisting the water department with leaks when additional help was needed. He also credited his father with setting an example of community service for his children and others. Madison thanked those in attendance for the honor. “I appreciate it. Thank you, every one of you,” Madison said. The Berry Women’s Club then recognized Wanda Deavours as Berry’s 2026 Woman of the Year.
