The more than 40 limelight hydrangeas that are located throughout Fayette are now in full bloom. The plants, along with numerous other plants located within the city, are taken care of by the Fayette Garden Club.
Zoe Smyth, a senior at Fayette County High School, is the recipient of the Fayette Garden Club’s 2022 college scholarship. The $600 scholarship is available for use at the college of the recipient’s choice.
The more than 40 limelight hydrangeas that are located throughout Fayette are now in full bloom. The plants are taken care of by the Fayette Garden Club, and were purchased with a grant from the Fayette Community Foundation. Two new “Moon” Hydrangeas will be planted at the Flag Park in downtown Fayette.
The Fayette Garden Club exhibits its pride in the community by planting and caring for flowers and plants in the downtown Fayette area. The service organization is dedicated to helping beautify the area through its use of plants and flowers, and the Fayette Garden Club also encourages others to help make the area more beautiful.
The Fayette Medical Center Family Council and Fayette Garden Club members provided food on Feb. 19 for the Fayette Medical Center Long-Term Care and Hospital staff in appreciation for the services they provide to the patients under their care. This is an annual event that is hosted on the first Wednesday after Valentine’s Day by the two organizations, and the food is always enjoyed by the employees.
The Fayette Garden Club selected the yard at the home of Jacqueline Johnson as its “Yard of the Month” for July. Johnson moved to Fayette from Indiana about 11 years ago, and she has worked very hard since moving to Fayette to transform her yard into the flowering oasis that it is today.
Randy, Donna and Wesley Parker received the Fayette Garden Club’s Yard-of-the-Month for May. Their house is one of the oldest houses in Fayette, and also was the first hotel in town. The house was built in 1850. The Parkers received this month’s award due to the tremendous job they do keeping their yard neatly groomed and blooming with flowers.
Lindy Hindman, a senior at Fayette County High School, was presented the Fayette Garden Club’s 2019 “Outstandin Community Service Award” during the Fayette Chamber of Commerce’s “First Tuesday” luncheon on April 2.
The Fayette Garden Club presented its Community Service Award and scholarship during the Fayette Chamber of Commerce’s “First Tuesday” luncheon, held at the Fayette Civic Center on April 3. Mason Aldridge, a senior at Fayette County High School, was presented the Community Service Award and also received a $250 cash scholarship from the Fayette Garden Club.
