Fayette Community Foundation accepting applications

The Fayette Community Foundation has started accepting grant applications for 2025. According to the Fayette Community Foundation’s mission statement, “the Foundation shall seek to support, promote, improve, and maintain the health, educational, and cultural institutions serving the citizens of Fayette County.

The Foundation intends to further its purpose by awarding financial assistance grants in the following areas: educational and individual skills improvement, healthcare, economic development community enhancement, individual and human development, the arts, culture and social welfare and environmental improvement.

The Foundation board members include William Oswalt, retired Fayette County Probate Judge, Eddie Robertson, Ray Nelson, retired Mayor of Fayette, Fayette Co. Probate Judge Mike Freeman, Dale Lawrence, Jim Burkhalter, Fayete County Superintendent of Education, Jeffery Richardson, Skip Newman, Carlton Benton, Bobbie Kemp-Driver, Fayette Mayor Rod Northam,and Jennifer Fowler, who serves as Administrative Coordinator for the Foundation.

Over the past twenty years a total of $8,959,017 has been awarded to provide funds for many projects. The awarding of grants began in the fall of 2005. Organizations recognized as tax exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code are eligible to apply for these grants as well as other public agencies, Note: All 501(c)3 organizations who are applying are required to attach written verification of their current tax-exempt status. Those organizations not generally eligible for support are religious programs, individuals, and start-up organizations.

All applicants should be aware the grant application has changed this year and all previous versions will not be accepted. Applications are available at the Fayette Co. Probate Office, located on the first floor of the Courthouse, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 1through Friday, Oct. 31. Office hours are Mondays 8 a.m. -5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. All applications must be received in hand by the Fayette Community Foundation’s Administrative Coordinator Jennifer Fowler by 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Grants will be awarded in December of this year.
