FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 440 Martin Luther King Dr., Fayette, will hold the 24th Pastor’s Appreciation honoring Rev. Dr. Major E. Charleston, Jr. and First Lady Gloria Charleston on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2:30 p.m. The guest church will be New Zion Pilgrim, from Columbus, Miss. Rev.  Christopher Wriley, Sr., the pastor, is the speaker for the afternoon program. Rev. Keith Cobb, Hodges Chapel Church, Fayette, will be the 11 a.m. speaker. Everyone is welcome.

NEW LIBERTY FREE WILL BAPTIST CHURCH will have Old Fashion Day Sunday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. Lunch will follow at 12 noon. They are celebrating their 125 year anniversary. There will be games and bluegrass music afer lunch. You are invited to attend in your bonnets and overalls.

The Fayette County Republicans will meet Tuesday, Oct. 13th at 7 p.m. at the Fayette Civic Center. The guest speaker will be David Boyett, Lamar County Probate Judge. All are welcome to attend.

The Kirkland Bluff Wayside Volunteer Fire Dept. will hold a fundraising whiffle ball tournament Saturday, Oct. 17 at Fenway at Faith, 161 Pike Rd., Winfield beginning at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $150. Gate fees are $5 per person. This fundraiser will help the fire department raise funds for a matching portion of a FEMA grant they received to purchase protective gear for the first time in 20 years. The Fayette Community Foundation will begin accepting grant applications for 2026. Applications are available at the Fayette County Probate Office located on the first floor of the courthouse beginning Thursday, Oct. 1 through  Friday, Oct. 30. All applications must be received in hand by the Fayette Community Foundation’s Administrative Coordinator, Jennifer Fowler, by 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. Grants will be awarded in December of this year.

White’s Chapel Church of Christ will host Ladies Day on Saturday, Nov.14. Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. Willow Thorpe, Clara Baggett, Darlene Addison and Deborah Wisham will all speak on Her Light Never Goes Out. 

The Kirkland Bluff Wayside Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Fall Fish Fry on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 4-7 p.m. at the Kirkland Community Center. Plates consist of fish or chicken, beans, slaw, french fries, hushpuppies and a drink for $15 per plate. 

The Fayette Airport and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will provide airplane rides to youth from the ages of eight to 17 (Young Eagles) on Saturday, Oct. 3 which is also the day of the Frog Level Festival, weather permitting. A parent or legal guardian will be required to sign for approval before flight. You can pre-register at youngeaglesday.org or at the event. The New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary certificate classes are being offered this Fall through the Fayette County Baptist Association at the Association office  across from the Fayette Post Office. 

These courses may be transferred to the undergraduate program at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  Monday night classes lead to the Certificate of Biblical Ministry and Tuesday night classes lead to the Certificate of Biblical Teaching. Each certificate requires eight courses and may be completed in two years.
