The Fayette Friends of the Animal Shelter will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 10 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Fayette Civic Center. Anyone interested in helping to make the lives of pets in Fayette County better is encouraged to attend. There is no cost to attend, but there are many opportunities for volunteer work. All ages are welcome as long as minors are accompanied by an adult. Volunteering is an excellent opportunity for home schooled children.
The Fayette County Republicans will meet Thursday, June 19 at 7 p.m. at the Fayette Civic Center. The guest speaker will be Secretary of State Wes Allen. All are welcome to attend.
SHADY GROVE CHURCH, located near Bluff, will have a gospel singing on Sunday, June 8 from 1 until 3 p.m. The special guest will be Pam Gardner from Mississippi.

The annual Ronnie McCollum Basketball Camp will be held July 8-10 at Fayette Middle School from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily. The cost for each camper is $100. The development & skills camp is for boys and girls ages 6-18. To register for the camp, please go to www.ronniemccollum.com.

The Kirkland Bluff Wayside Volunteer Fire Dept. will have a fish fry fundraiser on Saturday, June 14 at 4 p.m. at Wayside Fire Station, 12049 Hwy. 107 in Winfield. Plates will be $14 each, and consist of fish or chicken, baked beans, slaw, fries, hush puppies, drink and dessert. Fish is fresh not frozen.
Effective July 1, Fayette Transportation rates will increase. Round trips will cost $4 each. One way trips will cost $2 each. Each additional stop will cost $1. Fayette Transportation is funded by the City of Fayette, ALDOT and FTA. To schedule a ride, call (205) 442-8536.
