As long as the SNAP benefits pause is in effect, Fayette First Methodist Church will provide free warm meals on Tuesday evenings beginning at 6 p.m. during the month of November (while supplies last). Meals may be picked up in the back of the church.
The Opening Reception for the Festival of Trees will Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Fayette Civic Center/Art Museum. You are invited to walk or catch the little train from downtown during Fayette Old Fashion Christmas and enjoy some warm cider and Christmas cookies and see all of the trees and Christmas décor.
The Fayette Friends of the Animal Shelter will meet Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Fayette Civic Center. Heavy refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting to begin shortly thereafter. The Loft is preparing for its annual Thanksgiving Day meal, and the community is invited to help make the special time of sharing and gratitude possible for neighbors. They are requesting financial donations, fresh sweet potatoes, bottled water and soft drinks, green beans, cranberry sauce and divide-to-go boxes. JOHN AND DORIS BRASHER APPRECIATION MONUMENT DONATIONS NEEDED
The Fayette Beautification Committee, in collaboration with the City of Fayette, is seeking monetary donations in order to erect a monument dedicated to John and Doris Brasher. Donations can be made at West Alabama Bank and Trust.
Help the 24th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s office provide a board game for every first grade student in Fayette, Pickens and Lamar Counties. Games or monetary contributions can be dropped off at any District Attorney’s Office (Fayette, Carrollton or Vernon), any West Alabama Bank and Trust branch or the Fayette Police Dept.
