In Fayette, AARP Tax Aide is offering free tax preparation service for individuals. To take advantage of this service at the Fayette Civic Center, taxpayers will first need to make an appointment. They are available Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. starting on Feb. 3, and lasting through the tax season. There will be a annual commemoration service celebrating the elife and legacy of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, Jan. 20. The march will be at 10 a.m. on the courthouse lawn. The service will be at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The pastor is Rev. Dr. Major E. Charleston, Jr. is the pastor. The speaker will be Rev. Corey Savage, Plum Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa.
St. Michael’s Episcopal Church will pass out beans and rice and canned goods on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 9 a.m. A hot breakfast is also served at this time. No documentation or income verifications are required.
Fowlers Crossroads Fire Dept. will have their annual fish fry on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. at New Liberty Church. Your choice of catfish, shrimp or chicken fingers, along with cole slaw, baked beans, fries, hushpuppies, dessert and a drink. Plates for ages 10 and up will be $12 and $8.for under 10. Dine in or carry out.
The annual Little Miss Berry Pageant will be Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025 at the Berry High School George Traweek Gymnasium at 4 p.m. Registration forms may be picked up from the Berry High School main office and Berry Elementary School main office. Please complete the form and return it along with a $20.00 registration fee to the Berry High School main office by January 27, 2025. No late registrations will be accepted. Pageant admission is $5.00. Everyone must pay admission except the contestant.
