BOE holds monthly meeting

The Fayette County Board of Education approved personnel items and contracts during its April 18 meeting. All board members were present for the meeting.

 

BOE meets at Fayette Co. High School

The Fayette County Board of Education held its Jan. 17 meeting on the campus of Fayette County High School. All board members were in attendance for the meeting. Prior to the meeting, Superintendent Jim Burkhalter and the members of the Fayette County Board toured the campus of the school and enjoyed a meal provided by FCHS Principal Jennifer Sanford. All board members were present for the meeting.

 

BOE proceeds with plans to purchase building

The Fayette Board of Education wants to show transparency in the possible purchase of the athletic building at Fayette County High School, as noted during its latest meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Hubbertville School.

 

BOE considers building purchase

The Fayette County Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 29 at Fayette Elementary School. All board members were present for the meeting. Before starting the meeting, Superintendent Jim Burkhalter, along with board members Tom Hubbert and Tierre Agnew, each took the oath of office for a new term at their respective positions.

 

BOE votes to expel student

The Fayette County Board of Education held its October meeting on Oct. 18 in the library of Berry Elementary School. Board member Julie Stough was absent, with all other board members present for the meeting. At the start of the meeting, board member Keith Madison made a motion to enter executive session to discuss the “good name and character of an individual.” The motion was seconded by board member Brenda Webb and was approved unanimously.

 

BOE hires additional personnel

The Fayette County Board of Education approved several personnel changes during its Aug. 4 meeting. All board members were present for the meeting.

 

BOE approves salary schedule

The Fayette County Board of Education met on July 19 to consider the 2022-23 salary schedule and several personnel items. All board members were present for the meeting, with the exception of Board Member John Stowe.

 

School board approves personnel, contract changes

The Fayette County Board of Education met on June 28 to consider several personnel and contract items. All board members were present with the exception of Julie Stough. Prior to the start of the meeting, Josh Taylor, of the Alabama Examiners of Public Accounts, delivered the results of the latest state audit to the board, stating that there were no significant problems with the audit.

 

BOE hires new football coach



In a special-called meeting of the Fayette County Board of Education on Monday, June 20, the board unanimously voted to hire Jared Porter as the next football coach at Fayette County High School. All board members were in attendance for the special meeting. The head football coach and athletic director’s position became available following the June 7 board meeting, when the board failed to approve the coaching supplement for Coach Waldon Tucker. The coaching position was posted on June 13 as an internal system transfer only.
