Break in at Caines Ridge

Caine’s Ridge Church, pictured above, sustained minimal damage during a break in that was reported on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, Feb. 23, around 9 a.m., Fayette Police received reports of a possible break-in at Caines Ridge Church on Hwy 159. According to Police Chief Danny Jenkins, no items were taken, but a pallet was found inside, which was believed to have been used for someone to sleep and escape the cold.

Assistant Pastor Ken Holliman and his wife, Karen, reported that the suspect had broken the double glass window in the Fellowship Hall to enter the building. They also stated that a metal chair was located near the stove, where they believed the individual used the stove as a possible heat source. Pastor Mark Otts reported that the person used other resources that were available to possibly keep warm. He added that the pallet that was found was on a couch in the Fellowship Hall, was believed to be where the individual slept.

“If there is anyone who is homeless, if they would contact or reach out to any of the churches around here, they would be glad to help them,” said Karen Holliman. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Fayette Police Department at (205) 932-5312.
