Fayette County Commission

The Fayette County Commission heard updates from the Fayette County Extension Office, approved several annual agreements and resolutions and received an update on county road projects during its Monday, Sept. 14, meeting. All commissioners were present except Brad Cox. Ronni Rena Brasher from the Fayette County Extension Office updated commissioners on several new programs and introduced Kay Wiginton, the Extension Office’s new parent educator. The position was made possible through a grant-funded program.

The Fayette County Commission approved annual bids, amended its 2026 transportation plan and reviewed plans for future road and bridge projects during its meeting on Aug. 24. Commission Chairman Mike Freeman was absent from the meeting, with Commissioner David Hubbert presiding in his place. All other commissioners were present. County Engineer Ben Snipes presented commissioners with the county’s annual bids for materials and services, which will take effect Oct. 1.

The Fayette County Commission approved several routine items and heard updates on emergency management, road projects and equipment needs during its regular meeting on June 22. All commissioners were present. Commissioners approved minutes from the previous meeting and authorized payment of claims totaling $1,269,831 for the current period. The largest portion of those claims was related to the county’s Rebuild Alabama road program. The commission also approved the annual Insolvents, Errors and Taxes in Litigation report submitted by the Fayette County Revenue Commissioner’s Office.

Commissioners approved $102,430 in claims, including $35,761 from the General Fund, $39,878 from the Reappraisal Fund and $23,003 for road construction.
County Engineer Ben Snipes reported that paving work on County Roads 83 and 27 has been completed as part of ongoing Rebuild Alabama projects.
