Commission approves bid packages to build jail

The Fayette County Commission approved the low bids submitted for the construction of the new Fayette County jail at its March 12 meeting. The bids were awarded as follows: general to NC Morgan Construction of Tuscaloosa for $1,684,000; detention and security to Cornerstone Detention Products of Montgomery for $685,000; plumbing to Jimmy Hall Plumbing of Tuscaloosa for $516,615; HVAC to Jolly Heating and Air Conditioning of Northport for $468,457; electrical to Hattaway Brothers of Vernon for $475,915; concrete to SOBCON Concrete of Northport for $279.800; and masonery to Hollis Masonery of Vernon for $599,071.
