Musgrove arrested on felony charges

A multi-agency investigation in Fayette County resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and firearms. on Thursday morning, March 18. Investigators executed a search warrant at a home in the 200 block of 11th Street Southwest in Fayette at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, March 18. Agents charged Steven Patrick Musgrove, 25, with trafficking methamphetamine, first-degree possession of marijuana, failure to affix a tax stamp, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and certain persons forbidden from possessing a firearm.

 

Agencies arrest 16 on drug-related charges



The 24th Judicial Circuit’s District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday, Oct. 30, the arrest of 16 defendants indicted in Fayette County on drug-related charges following an extensive multi-agency investigation that spanned several months. Law enforcement agents seized more than $10,000 in cash, multiple vehicles, and numerous firearms during the operation intended to curtail narcotics distribution in Fayette County. Drugs including methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana were seized from the defendants.

 

Henegar arrested on 18 count indictment



Sherrin Leigh Henegar, 46, of 706 Black St., Millport, was arrested on Oct. 21 as the result of a grand jury indictment and charged with 14 counts of possession of a forged instrument and four counts of first degree theft of property. The Fayette County Grand Jury returned the indictment in September, and the indictment was filed in Fayette County Circuit Court on Oct. 2.

 

Fayette Police catch burglar at scene

The quick action of the Fayette Police department resulted in a burglar being captured at the scene of the crime. Gregory Shane Fortner, 39, of 531 11th St. SW, Fayette, was caught hiding in the ceiling at Shop & Save Supermarket in Fayette at approximately 4:30 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 1. The police department responded to the scene when Fortner activated the security alarm at the store.

 

Painter charged with ethics violation

A Haleyville man was arrested and charged with an ethics violation in relation to his work as a probation officer. Michael Steven Painter, 49, of 5898 Newburg Road, Haleyville, was taken into custody Friday, May 15, and charged with an ethics violation of using a public office for personal gain and custodial sexual misconduct, according to Andy Hamlin, District Attorney for the 24th Judical Circuit in Alabama, which encompasses Fayette, Lamar and Pickens counties. He was booked into the Fayette County jail.

Tucker arrested for numerous sex-related crimes

Wayne Edwin Tucker, 73, of Glen Allen, was arrested on Feb. 25 and charged with 33 sex-related offenses following an indictment by a Fayette County Grand Jury in January. Tucker had previously been arrested in 2017 following a grand jury indictment that charged him with two felony counts of sexual abuse. He posted bail shortly after his arrest, and had been free on bond until his arrest last week following the latest grand jury indictment.

 

Drug arrest made on warrant



An arrest was made after a search warrant was executed on a motel room at China Inn and Suites in Fayette. Mario Prewitt, 31, of Fayette, was arrested at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of probation violation.

Five people arrested for 2018 double homicide in Fayette Co.



Five people have been indicted and arrested in connection with the May 1, 2018 double homicide that occurred at a residence off of County Road 63 in Fayette County. Michael Council, 25, of New Jersey; Lazaro Moran, 33, of New Jersey; Lindettia Lynette Lowery, 33, of Fairfield; Brandon Lowery, 34, of Gadsden; and Britanny Bell-Spates, 25, of Gadsden have all been arrested at various locations during the past three months. Moran was arrested on Oct. 4 in New Jersey, and was the last of the suspects arrested.
