Zombies are on the move on Hwy. 107

Pictured above are the “Zombies of Hwy 107”, Rebecca Reeks, Bloody Bentley, Jerry Jawbreaker, Zelda Zombie and Melted Mike. They have been stalking the Holmes family for the last 11 years.

For the Holmes family, October means mums, pumpkins and reanimated corpses -- or at least it’s been that way for the last eleven years.

Chris and Amber Holmes said that in 2014 is when “they” started showing up. At first there were just two, Rotted Ralph and Zombie Zeke. But, it seemed where one or two aimlessly amble, others began to congregate.

As of today, there are five; Bloody Bentley, Jerry Jawbreaker, Zelda Zombie, Melted Mike and Rebecca Reeks. Typically, the family can keep them corralled in the barn, however, as the last days of September whittle away, their insatiable hunger for flesh makes it impossible to keep them confined.

When you hear the slow creak of the barn door opening on the night of September 30, a chill runs down your spine. Throughout October, they shamble around the yard until Halloween night. That’s when they assemble around the front walkway in expectation of those few Trick or Treaters who mistake them for simple Halloween props and make their way innocently to the families door. That’s when they feed.

On the morning of November 1, they are gone. The only trace they leave behind is a few torn costumes and some scattered candy laid across the lawn.

Happy Halloween!
