Lady Lions lose in double header
The Hubbertville varsity girls lost 6-4 to the Brilliant Tigers on Monday, April 28 in game one of a double header. In game two, The Lady Lions faced a 5-0 loss to Marion County.
The Hubbertville varsity girls lost 6-4 to the Brilliant Tigers on Monday, April 28 in game one of a double header. In game two, The Lady Lions faced a 5-0 loss to Marion County.
The Hubbertville Lady Lions continued its hot streak by defeating Vina 58-53. Kylee Dunn led Hubbertville with 19 points, followed by Georgia Gardner, who scored 15 points and made three-three-point baskets.
For the first time in approximately 40 years, Hubbertville School will field varsity and JV volleyball teams this season.
The Valedictorians and Salutatorians from the Fayette County Schools posed for a picture last week in front of the Fayette County Courthouse.
In the fall of 1977, a relatively unknown coach by the name of Lamar Harris took the reins of the Hubbertville football program. Not only did Harris coach the football teams, for many years he coached all of the boys’ and girls’ athletic programs at Hubbertville. Recently, after a record Alabama high school football coaching tenure of 44 years, Harris decided to retire from coaching. A search for his replacement ensued, and Berry’s head football coach, Caleb Hynds, was chosen as Harris’ successor.
Hubbertville presented scholarships to three of its athletes during the annual awards banquet held at the school. Kristen Lowery was recipient of the Megan McClusky Memorial Scholarship, Alaina Oden received the Rodney Marcum Scholarship, and Erica Marcum was awarded the Andy Stovall Memorial Scholarship. Many other awards were given to various athletes during the banquet.
Hubbertville School held its high school awards day on May 8. The following awards were presented: Class of 2018: Carley Anthony – Bevill Academic Honors Scholarship, A/B Honor Roll, President’s Education Award; Amber Bobo – Spencer Benton Memorial Scholarship, A/B Honor Roll, Highest Average English 12;
