Lady Lions beat Sumiton Christian

The Hubbertville Lady Lions won big last week in all three of their games. They defeated Sumiton Christian on Tuesday, Jan. 21, by a score of 67-24.

The Lady Lions defeated Lamar County, 39-28 on Jan. 22 and on Jan. 24 defeated Berry 62-36

Hubbertville defeats Marion Co. Red Raiders 22-18

The Lions hosted the Marion County Red Raiders on Friday night at Wiley Hollingsworth Stadium. Winning the coin toss and electing to receive the Lions opening drive started from the 20-yard line following Tye Madison’s touchback kickoff.

Vote to cancel principal’s contract fails

The Fayette County Board of Education held its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 30, at the Courthouse Annex building. All board members were present. District One Board Member John Aaron led the meeting with a prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance by District Two Board Member Tierre Agnew. The meeting was attended by over 150 parents and community members who passionately advocated for their principal, Tim Dunavant, of Hubbertville School. 

Fayette softball wins two-of-three

The Fayette Lady Tigers softball team defeated Brilliant last Monday by the score of 5-4. Preslee Kelly pitched a complete seven-inning game for Fayette, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs to pick up the victory. Kelly also led the team offensively with three hits at the plate. Aubrey Deavours had two hits for the Lady Tigers, including a triple. Ensleigh Kennedy had a double, while Lauren Unger, Rayah Nichols and Kinley Owens each had a hit for Fayette.

 

Fayette baseball wins three-of-four

The Fayette Tigers’ baseball team won its first three games of the week before falling to the Northside Rams on Saturday. On Tuesday, Feb. 27, the Tigers defeated Lamar County 12-2.
Tucker Scott started the game on the mound for Fayette, allowing only six hits and two runs in six innings of work while striking out seven opposing batters and walking two.
