FCHS and BSCC Veterans Day Program

A large group of local veterans attended the Bevill State Community College and Fayette Co. High School’s annual Veterans Day program, held on Monday, Nov. 6. Navy Veteran and 1992 FCHS graduate James A. Henry was the guest speaker for the event. Henry began his military career in April 1993, and has earned numerous awards and commendations throughout his career.

Nursing students can earn Bachelor Degrees



Bevill State Community College has partnered with The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing as part of the “UAB School of Nursing/Community College Joint Enrollment Pathway” to offer Bevill State students a seamless path from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree in nursing. The UAB School of Nursing/Community College Joint Enrollment Pathway is for students who are interested in earning their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree while still enrolled in their associate degree program.

BSCC to host 'First Chapter'



Students can start the FIRST CHAPTER of their Bevill State story in a day!
Bevill State Community College (BSCC) will be hosting “First Chapter” events at all five of its locations during the month of August. These events will allow new students to take a campus tour, apply for admission, complete their FAFSA, take any necessary placement tests, meet with an advisor, and register for Fall classes.

Bevill St. hires Garner as baseball coach


Travis Garner was recently selected as the new baseball coach at Bevill State Community College in Fayette.
Bevill State Community College (BSCC) is excited to announce the appointment of Travis Garner as the new head coach of its men’s baseball team, located on the Fayette Campus. Garner started his college baseball career playing for Meridian Community College (MCC). He later started for two years at The University of Alabama before signing a professional contract with the Kansas City Royals. Since 2008, Garner has worked as a high school baseball coach.

Hagood beginning tenure as BSCC President

Dr. Joel Hagood is the new Bevill State Community College President.

Dr. Joel Hagood, a long-time educator who is familiar with the geographic area that Bevill State Community College services, was recently named the new president of the college. Hagood replaced interim Bevill State President Dr. Chris Cox, who served the college following the retirement of Dr. Kim Ennis as president of Bevill State on Sept. 30, 2020.

 

Bevill starting spring classes off-campus



Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, Bevill State Community College will begin the 2021 Spring Semester with classes in a virtual, online, or remote format. Classes will begin as scheduled on Friday, Jan. 8. Students should log in to their canvas accounts on that date for communication from their instructors with course-specific details. BSCC developing strategic plan



Bevill State Community College (BSCC) met with faculty, staff, and administrators from all five locations on Monday, June 29, to continue the development of a new strategic plan. The College began this process earlier this year. However, recent statewide developments make the timing of this planning process optimal. At the close of the regular legislative session, Alabama lawmakers approved a $1.25 billion bond issue for school construction in the largest capital improvement project in more than a decade.

BSCC announces 'Student Honors Awards'



Bevill State Community College in Fayette announed its 2019-20 academic year “Student Honors Awards” recently. Dr. Kim Ennis, president of Bevill State Community College in Fayette announced the awards and had the following remarks to say on behalf of the administration, faculty, and staff of Bevill State. “Typically, this is a season of celebration at our institution, when we celebrate the accomplishments of our students through graduation programs, student honors programs, and in years past, nursing pinnings.” Ennis said.
