Two from area earn All-State honors



Fayette County High School’s Hollis Strawbridge and Hubbertville’s T.J. Keeton were each selected as second team All-State football players by the Alabama Sportswriters Association following the 2023 season. Strawbridge, a senior,  was selected as a Class 3A second team defensive back. He was one of the senior leaders on the Tigers’ football team, and contributed heavily not only on defense, but also as an offensive receiver and blocker. T.J. Keeton, a junior, was selected as a Class 1A second team running back.

Three local players make All-State in football



Three local football players were recently named to the 2021 Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State football team. Gage Alexander, Hubbertville running back, repeated as a first team All-State player in Class 1A after also making the team in 2020. Joining Alexander as first team Class 1A All-State was Tanner Parr of Berry, who was named All-State punter.
Making second team All-State from Hubbertville was defensive lineman Dawson Youngblood.

 

Hubbertville, Berry players make All-State



Two players from Hubbertville and six players from Berry were chosen as All-State football players for the 2020 season. Both teams had great success during the football season.  Berry finished with an 11-2 record , including 11 straight wins, and made it to the Alabama High School Athletic Associations’s playoff semifinals. Hubbertville finished with a very respectable 9-3 season, and the Lions reached the quarterfinal round of the state football playoffs.

 

Locke is named All-State in football

The Alabama Sportswriters Association selected Johnathan Locke of Berry as its second team All-State athlete in Class 1A football for the 2019 season. Locke, a junior on the Berry High School football team, was one of the leaders for the Wildcats. He played running back and wide receiver on offense, and also contributed heavily on defense as a defensive back.

Walker named first team All-State

Tre’Darion Walker, a senior at Fayette County High School, was named first-team Class 4A all-state receiver by the Alabama Sports Writers Association for the 2018 season. Walker  had 43 receptions for 1,051 yards and 14 touchdowns during the season. Cannon Alexander , senior offensive lineman at Hubbertville, was named Class 1A honorable mention.
