Hubbertville wins 10 games as it continues rebuilding

The Hubbertville Lady Lions traveled to South Lamar for its area tournament and won its first game before losing the next two to exit the tournament. Hubbertville opened the tournament with a 14-2 win over Pickens County. Emma Nichols pitched a complete five-inning game to capture the victory.

 

Bonds receives scholarship

Gracie Bonds, student at the University of Alabama, recently received the Alpha Xi Fayette Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma’s Scholarship Grant-in-Aid. Bonds is a graduate and Salutatorian of Hubbertville High School, an Ambassador Scholarship Recipient for Bevill State Community College and is currently enrolled at the University of Alabama majoring in special education.

Hubbertville defeats Brilliant, loses to Holy Spirit

The Hubbertville softball team hosted Brilliant on Wednesday, April 18 and easily defeated the Lady Tigers by a score of 18-2. Emma Nichols pitched a complete game for the Lady Lions, allowing four hits, one earned run and striking out two batters. Gracie Dodd had the big bat for Hubbertville, going three-for-three including a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Laikyn Wright also had three hits for Hubbertville, including a double, four runs scored and three RBIs.

Hubbertville defeats Pickens County 20-2

Hubbertville defeated Pickens County 20-2 on April 10 in a three inning game.
Emma Nichols pitched a complete game for Hubbertville, allowing four hits and two unearned runs with three strikeouts and no walks. Gracie Dodd had two hits for Hubbertville, including a home run, with two runs scored and two RBIs. Chelsea Porter had three runs scored and two RBIs, Savannah McCraw scored a run and had two RBIs, and Cayla Tidwell had a double, RBI and scored two runs.

 

Hubbertville hosts invitational softball tournament

Hubbertville hosted its Hubbertville Invitational Round-Robin Tournament on Saturday, March 31, consisting of high school teams from Hubbertville, Berry, Brilliant, Marion County and Winston County. The Lady Lions started the tournament against Winston County, losing by a score of 9-1. Emma Nichols pitched for Hubbertville, striking out three batters, allowing no walks and two earned runs. Chelsea Porter, Cayla Tidwell and Haylee Pollard all had hits for Hubbertville, with Porter scoring a run and Tidwell getting the RBI.

 

Hubbertville defeats Hackleburg, Pickens County

The Hubbertville Lady Lions won its only two games of the week, defeating Hackleburg 13-0 and beating Pickens County 11-1. Emma Nichols pitched a complete game shutout on March 12 against Hackleburg allowing no runs and only one hit while striking out seven batters and walking none. Chelsea Porter was three-for-four for Hubbertville, with two runs scored and an RBI. Kayla Tidwell also had three hits in four at-bats and drove in two runs. Laikyn Wright had two hits for the Lady Lions, scoring three runs and driving in a run.

Hubbertville boys defeat Lynn in basketball, girls lose to Lynn

The Hubbertville’s boys basketball team defeated Lynn 43-29 in a game played Jan. 22 at Hubbertville. The leading scorer in the game was the Lions' Tanner Upton, with 15 points and also 13 rebounds.
