The Career Technical Educate (CTE) Lab at Fayette County High School recently completed a project that visitors to the Fayette Aquatic Center will enjoy this season and for many years to come. The class, part of the SkillsUSA organization, built four new picnic tables for the water park, and repainted four existing tables that are used at the facility. The project was led by instructor Jonathan Burkhalter, with several students contributing to the project that was completed and delivered just in time for the Aquatic Center’s opening day.

A “Powderpuff” football tournament was held at Fayette County High School on Tuesday, Nov. 7, with female students suiting up for a series of flag football games and the senior football players coaching the teams. The three-game student tournament also featured male cheerleaders taking their new roles very seriously.

A large group of local veterans attended the Bevill State Community College and Fayette Co. High School’s annual Veterans Day program, held on Monday, Nov. 6. Navy Veteran and 1992 FCHS graduate James A. Henry was the guest speaker for the event. Henry began his military career in April 1993, and has earned numerous awards and commendations throughout his career.

Fayette County High School crowned its 2023 Homecoming Queen prior to the start of the Fayette - Carbon Hill football game.

Fayette County High School will host its annual Homecoming festivities this week.

On Thursday, Sept. 14, a bonfire/pep rally will be held in the FCHS softball field parking lot, beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The Balfour Award, the only award given to a senior at Fayette County High School during graduation, was presented last Friday night to Celie Cowart by FCHS Principal Jennifer Sanford.

Fayette continued its hot streak this season, defeating American Christian Academy on Thursday by the score of 4-1. Landon Lowe was the winning pitcher for the Tigers, allowing two hits and one run with eight strikeouts in seven innings of work. Cooper Sanford was the leading hitter for Fayette, with two hits during the game.

The Lady Tigers opened last week with a heartbreaking loss on Monday to Marion County by the score of 12-11. Karlee Clark started the game at pitcher for Fayette, allowing 10 runs on only four hits in two innings of work.

Fayette County High School hosted a “Community Partners Thanksgiving Luncheon” on Tuesday, Nov. 15 to thank business leaders, parents and the public for their support of activities at the school during the past year. Principal Jennifer Sanford thanked everyone for attending, telling them that without community support, many of the projects that the school is undertaking could not be accomplished.

Fayette County High School held its annual “Awards Night” on Tuesday, May 3, with the senior class receiving approximately $1.7 million dollars in total scholarship awards. One of the highlights of the night is always the announcement of the top 10 seniors by academic scores.
