Nolen named Chief Assistant DA

24th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Andy Hamlin is pleased to announce the appointment of Jack Merrell Nolen III to serve as the Chief Assistant District Attorney for Fayette, Lamar and Pickens counties. “Jack’s experience in the courtroom, along with his tireless work ethic and commitment to the citizens we serve made him the perfect fit for this leadership position,” Hamlin said.  


Death in Bankston being investigated by District Attorney

A death investigation is underway after a Fayette County man was killed in Bankston last week. Albert Brown, 69, died from a gunshot wound on Monday, Jan. 18. Deputies and medics with Marion County EMS and the Bankston-Stough Volunteer Fire Department were called to a wooded hunting area in the 1800 block of Fayette County Road 67 near Brown’s home that morning.

Commission agrees to help fund sexual abuse investigator

Andy Hamlin, district attorney for the 24th judicial circuit, spoke to the Fayette County Commission during its Oct. 28 meeting about the need for a domestic violence - sexual assault investigator. “The toughest cases to try are sexual abuse cases,” Hamlin said. “Not everyone is equipped to sit down with a four-year old and discuss a sexual assault.”
