As another year has come and gone, The Times Record has compiled a list of our top stories from Fayette County in 2024.

Here are some of our top headlines for the year:

January

Hudson hired as assistant engineer by commission

Halee Hudson was hired as the new assistant engineer for Fayette County during the Jan. 8 Fayette County Commission meeting. She began her duties on Jan. 16.

Berry man dies in vehicle accident

Terrill L. Wrenn, 50, of Berry, died in a single-vehicle accident on Jan. 1 when his car left the road, struck a tree, and overturned.

Local students participate in Rose Bowl activities

Three Fayette County High School alumni, Robert Watts, Jeremy Smith, and Claire Holliman, joined The University of Alabama’s “Million Dollar Band” in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif.

Brinyark defeats Underwood to win Representative seat

Bryan Brinyark defeated John Underwood in a Jan. 9 special election to fill the vacant District 16 Alabama House of Representatives seat after Kyle South’s resignation.
