MARY JANE FRANKS KEMP
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Franks Kemp were held Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Bankhead Cemetery. Rev. Jerome Dixon officiated. Mrs. Kemp died Saturday, Feb. 16 at her residence. She was born to the late Jane Monroe and Robert Franks on Nov. 6, 1947 in Fayette. She accepted Christ and was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active member until her health limited her attendance.
She attended West Highland High School, where she was a band member. She worked at the Fayette Cotton Mill for 30 years until she retired.
She was joined together with Louis Kemp and five children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Franks and Van Monroe; one sister, Rosa Mae Lee; her oldest daughter, Rose Marie Franks; and one grandson, Tyler James Kemp.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, James Leader Kemp of Birmingham; four daughters, Bobbie Kemp Driver (Edward), Ida Kemp Cox (Billy), Lovie Kemp Loyd (Randy), and Jacqueline Kemp Estavan (Jose), all of Fayette; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willie Monroe (Regina) of Fayette, and John Monroe (Maxine) of Peru, Ind.; two sisters, Alice Louise Monroe of Fayette and Poinsettia Draper of St. Louis, Mo.; aunt, Carrie Stocksdale of Talladega and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Active pallbearers were Jamey S. Kemp, Semaj A. Kemp, Jerdarrell Cox, Randy Loyd, Louis Tre Cox, Mitchell Estavan, DeQuan Loyd, and Darius Loyd.
Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Franks, Jerry Nalls, Randy Loyd, Billy R. Cox, Jose Estavan, and Edward Driver.
