- Wendy Pamela Jean Bailey, 22, was arrested and charged in connection with the death of her one year old son, Kahleb Rowan Collins.
- A fatal shooting on Water Mill Road in Pickens County led to the arrest of 23‑year‑old Russell Douglas Beede of Fayette. Beede was taken into custody and charged with murder.
- 84‑year‑old Fayette resident Phyllis B. Thompson died following a three‑vehicle collision on Hwy. 96 near Co. Rd. 21. Thompson and another driver were injured in the crash, and she later succumbed to her injuries at a Columbus, Miss. hospital.
- Theron Nolen’s retirement closed a significant chapter for the Nolen & Nolen Law Firm, a family‑run practice that has served Fayette County for more than 70 years.
