EVELYN TAYLOR OLIVE

 A memorial service for Mrs. Evelyn Taylor Olive, age 78 of Fayette, will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Fayette Church of Christ. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. She died Sunday, March 30.  
She was a 1965 graduate of Fayette County High School and received her undergraduate degree from Livingston University (now the University of West Alabama) and her master’s degree from The University of Alabama. She began her professional career in the Sumter County school system. She began working in the library at Brewer State Junior College (now Bevill State Community College) in 1972 and retired in 2000 as the head librarian.  She was a member of  Fayette Church of Christ for more than sixty-five years.  She was a past member of the Progress Club, the Music Study Club and the Retired Teachers’ Association.
She was preceded in death by Jerry Olive, her husband of 53 years, as well as her parents Jake and Estelle Weeks Taylor.  
She is survived by daughter, Terri Olive Tompkins (Matt) of Tuscaloosa; son, Jesse Olive (Amanda) of Fairhope; grandchildren, Sara Quinn Tompkins of Tuscaloosa and Luke Emory Olive of Fairhope; sisters, Betty Sills and Carolyn Arant; brothers, Phillip Taylor and Paul Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family gives its sincere thanks to Dr. Martha Jo Christian and her staff, the staff of Morningview Estates, Alabama Hospice, Sharon Walker, Shelia Cannon, Frances Johnson and Jill Hallman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Fayette Church of Christ, P.O. Box 40, Fayette, Alabama 35555 or to the Fayette Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Drawer 710, Fayette, Alabama 35555.
