Friedman to speak concerning Israeli War

There will be an informative meeting concerning the on-going war between Gaza and Israel at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at the Fayette Civic Center. The guest speaker for the event will be Richard Friedman, former executive director for the Birmingham Jewish Foundation.
The meeting was previously scheduled for Jan. 16, but was postponed due to icy road and weather conditions. Friedman has visited Israel 55 times,  and has spoken widely and written extensively about Israel and Jewish themes. Friedman’s writings have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Jewish Week, Los Angeles Jewish Times and other national publications. Numerous articles were also published in The Birmingham News and AL.com
While serving as executive director for the Birmingham Jewish Federation, Friedman built strong ties and lasting friendships between the Christian community and the Jewish community. Friedman has come out of retirement to help the Jewish Federation educate people about Israel, its war with Hamas, the growth of anti-semitism and the implications of these challenges for all Americans. This meeting will give an opportunity for the public to receive an accurate perspective on the events surrounding Israel. There is no cost to attend.
