ETTA LOUISE DODSON BURLESON
Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Louise Dodson Burleson, age 91, of Winfield, were held Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Winfield First Baptist Church. Burial followed in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Burleson passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Fayette Long Term Care Center in Fayette.
Mrs. Burleson was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Burleson; her parents, Eufaula B. Dodson and Lucy Belle Byars Dodson; sisters, Mary Ruth Atkins and Martha Nell Olberg; brothers, Charlie Joe Dodson, Henry Hue Dodson and Loran Byron Dodson.
Mrs. Burleson was born near Wayside on Jan. 19, 1929, the oldest of seven children to Eufaula B. Dodson and Lucy Belle Byars Dodson. Mrs. Burleson was a member of Winfield First Baptist Church and taught the 5-year-old Sunday School class for 45 years. She graduated from Winfield City High School on May 5, 1947 and married her high school sweetheart, Billy Burleson, on May 15, 1947. On July 23, 1952 Mrs. Burleson accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Burleson was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She volunteered with the Keenagers, American Legion Aux., Northwest Medical Center gift shop and sang with the Senior Citizens Community Center.
She is survived by her children, Larry Burleson (Clara) of Columbus, Miss., Bonita Logan (David) of Fayette and Debbie Mayfield (Marlin) of Hubbertville; a sister, Donna Harkins (Myrk) of Jasper; grandchildren, Brent Burleson, Ashley Ethridge (Noah), Heath Logan (Jamie), Chris Logan, Eddie Mayfield (Jenna), and Jennifer Clark (Kyler); nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
