PETRA DOLLAR DAVIS

A memorial service for Mrs. Petra Dollar Davis, age 66 of Winfield, was held on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. She passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss.
She was born on August 10, 1957, in Munich, Germany. Petra was adopted at five months old by Fred and Carmoleta Dollar. She was a member of Mosaic United Methodist Church of Winfield, and a graduate of Fayette County High School. Petra loved to cook, bake, watch Alabama football even living in a house divided, her husband Roger, her family, her dog Maycee and God. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her church family, going to the beach, estate sales, going to thrift stores and doing things for others. Her heart for serving always shined brightly.
Anyone who knew Petra knows she loved big and fiercely. She loved her family first and foremost. She was selfless, caring, kind, God fearing, and all around one of the best people to ever walk the face of this earth. She was always willing to go above and beyond to help any and everyone regardless of whether she knew them or not. She was absolutely a bright light in this sometimes-dark world. She was funny, loved laughing and cuttin’ up and living her life as if every day was her last.
As a show of her sharing and caring way of living, Petra was an organ donor. Her last gift of donating her organs is such a testament of her giving ways. It has given other families the hope they were looking for.
Petra is preceded in death by her mother, Carmoleta Kemp Dollar; sisters, Patricia Monroe and Freda Hinton; grandparents, Charlie and Hazel Kemp and Mamie and Elijah Dollar.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Davis; daughter, Christy Carter Rigsby (Derric); father, Fred R. Dollar; grandchildren, Carter and Elizabeth Godsey; very special nephew, Ryan “RyRy” Yerby; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to the West Alabama Food Bank at: www.westalfoodbank.org or to Gideon International at: www.gideons.org.
