Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Berry, age 96 of Fayette, were held Wednesday, March 22 at the Norwood -Wyatt Chapel of Fayette. Dr. Scott Davis officiated. Burial followed at Fayette City Cemetery.
A much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt passed away peacefully on Sunday March 19, 2023 at her home in Fayette. She was born on June 18, 1926 to the late Roy Luther Chandler and Florence Rogers Chandler.  She married Horace E. Berry, Jr on July 10, 1943. They were blessed with two children Barbara and Jim.
She was a graduate of Fayette County High School and received an AS Degree in Business from The University of Alabama.
Carolyn and Horace owned and operated the Berry Department Store for many years.  She was a member of the Fayette Baptist Church.  She had a tremendous faith, enjoyed teaching Sunday School and truly loved her church family.  She enjoyed cooking for everyone around, traveling and especially spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and son, Jim Berry.  She is survived by her husband of 79 years, Horace E. Berry, Jr., daughter Barbara Berry Fowler, grandchildren Leslie Marlar, Stephen Fowler (Natalie), Branyon Berry, Anne Elise Berry, 2 great grandchildren Katherine Fowler Moore (Elijah), Blakely Rose Fowler, and a host of other relatives and many friends.
