The Fayette City Council issued a proclamation during its Sept. 13 meeting, honoring the life and legacy of former Fayette resident Pearl Young. Young was killed in a senseless act of violence during the mass shooting at the Tops Market in Buffalo, N.Y. on May 14. All council members were present for the meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, Emmett Morgan, a cousin to Young, led the council in prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
