JAMES TERRELL WHITE, SR.      

James Terrell White, Sr., age 81, of Stone Mountain, Ga. passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2018 in the Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, in Tuscaloosa. Rev. Jason Brooks officiated.    A son of the late James Vaniver and Geneva Woods White, Mr. White was born in Oklahoma, raised in Alabama, and worked in Alabama, New Jersey and Georgia during his lifetime. He attended Fayette County High School in Fayette, where he was voted Class President of his Sophomore Class, Vice President of his Junior Class, and President of the Future Farmers of America and captain of the basketball and baseball teams during his senior year. James received an athletic scholarship from Wood Community College in Mathiston, Miss., where he played basketball and baseball. After two years, he transferred to the University of Alabama where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. During a summer Accounting class James met his future wife, Alicia Conwill.    Upon graduation, James joined Reichhold Chemicals, Inc. in Tuscaloosa. James worked with Reichhold for 27 years, in increasingly greater positions of leadership. During this time, he co-authored six U.S. Patents. James joined Georgia-Pacific Corporation in Atlanta, Ga. in the late 1980s and worked for 17 years as a senior-level leader. He was intimately involved with expanding Georgia-Pacific’s chemical business blueprint during his tenure and continued as a consultant for many years after retiring. In retirement he conducted three missionary trips for HighMark, Inc. to the country of Macedonia, teaching business courses to local business leaders while sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A member of Gideons International, James held many offices in the Stone Mountain Gideon Camp. He was also a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church where he taught Bible classes for over 25 years, 17 of which were with the Men of Integrity Bible Fellowship Class. James was an avid golfer and ran in the Peachtree 10 K Road Race for 25 consecutive years. He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ruthanne Camille Brooks in 2004 and a daughter Rosanne W. Marshall in 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Alicia Conwill White; son & daughter-in-law, James Terrell & Julie White, Jr. of Houston, Texas, daughters and sons-in-law: Melodie W. & Charles L. Waid of Calera, Rachel C. & Jason E. Brooks of Loganville, Ga., Joe Marshall of Lilburn, Ga.; grandchildren: Colin White, Preston Waid, Daniel Waid, Will Marshall, Andrew Marshall, Phillip Marshall, Ella Brooks and Jonathan Brooks.
