George Richard Bolling

GEORGE RICHARD BOLLING, SR.      

Mr. George Richard Bolling, Sr., age 82, of Fayette, died Sunday, July 21, 2019 at his home in Fayette.
   Mr. Bolling was born January 22, 1937 in Brilliant and grew up in Hamilton. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1955 and from Auburn University in 1959. He was a Fayette businessman, opening Bolling Pharmacy in April 1961 downtown and Bolling Apothecary in September 1980. He was in business for over 50 years.
   He served in the Alabama State Senate from 1990 – 1994. He served on the State Board of Pharmacy for eight years and received the prestigious Bowl of Hygeia Award for outstanding pharmacist in 1993. He was Fayette Man of the Year in 1974.
   George was a member of Fayette Church of Christ where he has served as a deacon and an elder.
   He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Bolling and an infant brother who was never named; and one sister, Louise Bolling of Sprott.
   He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Sally Pearce Bolling; daughter, Leigh Anne Richards, her husband, Mike Richards; their daughter, Elizabeth Bethune, her husband, Aaron Bethune; son, George Richard “Rick” Bolling, Jr.; son, Robert Bolling, his wife, Jennifer Bolling; Rob’s sons, Pearce Bolling and Brock Bolling; Jennifer’s children, Sarah Beth, Harrison, Noah and Emma Claire Kumer; a sister, Nina Meier and her husband, Carl Gene Meier of Bartow, Fla.; one great-grandchild, Stella Grace Bethune; and two nieces and four nephews.
